My top 5 movies

  • Godfather part 1 & 2
  • Apocalypse Now
  • Schindler’s List
  • The usual suspects
  • Interstellar

So, my top 2 consists of movies directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Each of the top 5 movies are different genre movies and some of them are 3 hours longs ones. I won’t talk much about the film plot as some people like to watch without knowing much about the plot.

Godfather Part 1 & 2

I’m a little biased towards Al Pacino, hence put Godfather 1 & 2 in the first place. The Godfather is a 3 part movie series, although the 3rd part disappoints a bit. The first 2 parts are game changers. It’s a gangster drama. The film is carried extraordinarily by lead cast from both movies such as Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert de Niro, Robert Duvall, James Caan, Diane Keaton and John Cazale. The film is based on a book by Mario Puzo. The first part contain. What really interesting in these movies is the screenplay. I especially liked the part 2 screenplay. It’s lengthy and has a lot of characters which might confuse some people. But if you are a fan of gangster dramas. Then, these are the perfect films for you. An offer you can’t refuse.

Apocalypse Now

This is another Coppola film based on war. But it is not exactly a war movie. This movie follows an American Captain assigned to kill the Colonel who had gone rogue and is believed to be with the tribals as their demigod. Interestingly, the main cast of the movie Marlon Brando appears only for a very short screentime. Again, the screenplay is top notch. This movie is very complicated one, and makes you think about the ironies of war.

Schindler’s List

Well, this is another 3 hour long movie and this Academy award winning movie is directed by Steven Spielberg. It’s an historical film based on holocaust and the humanity that existed during that period. The ending of the movie alone makes your watch time worthy. The acting from Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes is incredible.

The Usual Suspects

Well, this is my favourite genre. A crime thriller. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the world he didn’t exist. This film follows five suspects and how they were setup by another criminal mastermind. It will definitely thrill you by the end. The acting, screenplay and the writing are top notch in this film.

Interstellar

Most of you might have already seen this film. This Christopher Nolan Sci fi drama takes the 5th spot in my list. I like how Nolan use Time, Travel, Science and combine it with human emotions. You can see the same in Inception. Again, you would get everything you are looking for in a Christopher Nolan’s film. Great acting, music, direction, wonderful cinematic experience.
